For over 100 years, Congregation Beth Emeth has been, and continues to be, an important center to the Jewish community of Delaware and the surrounding area. We are a Reform Congregation whose mission is to enrich the lives of our members and our community by teaching, learning, and rejoicing in our Jewish ideals and traditions.

Since May 14th is the secular anniversary of Israel’s birth sixty years ago, I thought the words of those who visited Israel a few weeks ago would speak volumes. So here are some comments:

  • SAVE THE DATES Please mark you calendars for the following events as you and your family join us in dedicating our beautiful newly renovated Temple: Wednesday, October 15: Dedication of the Center for Jewish Education. Join the students and faculty for “Pizza in the Hut” following afternoon Hebrew School classes. Friday evening service, October 17: Full Temple dedication and celebratory Oneg . A truly special and joyous occasion for our entire Beth Emeth community. Tuesday, October 21: Memorial Alcove dedication and luncheon following the 11 AM Yizkor service.
  • Don't miss our Summer Sermon Series 2008! This year's theme is Summer School.
  • Summer Torah Study: The Book of Psalms Beginning on June 28th, you're invited to the informal Psalms study each Saturday from 9:30-10:30 am in the cafe section of Borders on Route 202, Wilmington. The first person to arrive each Saturday should "corral" the comfortable couch and chairs in the cafe. For additional information, please contact Sybil Schwartz or Alan Dallas. Please consider joining our regular class when we resume in September. It’s been ongoing for over 30 years with the most interesting people participating in our discussions.

Join us for Food, Fun, and Friends, 5:00 - 7:00 PM for all ages. Come get re-acquainted with the New Beth Emeth. "Toss" it around and then give us a call to tell us that you are coming 302-764-2393. Any questions? Please call Debbie Hutz or Rabbi Sarah.
Help prepare meals for families from our community. Picnic outside following event. 11:30 AM - 2:00 PM. Dropoff/pickup at Ronald McDonald House of Wilmington. Cost $10...this will subsidize our cooking materials and pay for lunch.

Dinner @ 7:00, Service @ 8:00...Join in on a teen-led service, and sophisticate your palate! Bring one international dairy dish that will feed 10 people. RSVP with dish by Sept 10. No RSVP needed for service, of course!
The entire family is welcome to attend. Dinner at 5:30 PM, service at 6:30, cost $4/child, $6/adult. Please RSVP for the dinner by Sept 5 so we may order food accordingly!
From 9:00 PM on Saturday until 8:00 AM on Sunday...Have a night of fun, relaxation, and possibly some sleep?! RSVP's needed. Cost $10.

  Come in and check out the new and improved Beth Emeth Sisterhood Gift Shop. We've doubled our size and new merchandise is arriving every week! We have new tallit in different colors and fabrics. We are open during Religious and Hebrew school days, Sundays 9:00 AM until noon and Wednesdays 3:00 PM until 5:30 PM and by appointment.
